Dilip Jeste Appointed as First Associate Dean for Healthy Aging and Senior Care
Dr. Dilip V. Jeste, Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Neurosciences, has been appointed the first associate dean for Healthy Aging and Senior Care at UC San Diego and will direct the newly established Center on Healthy Aging and Senior Care.
Dr. Jeste collaborates with HNRP investigators on research regarding aging and HIV infection. Examples of publications include:

Igor Grant Announced as New Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, University of California, San Diego

We are pleased to announce that Igor Grant, MD, FRCP(C), an internationally recognized neuropsychiatrist, has been named the new Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Grant has been at UC San Diego more than 40 years and has served as Executive Vice Chair in the department for the past 20. He will succeed Lewis Judd, MD, who is stepping down after 36 years in the position – the longest serving department chair in the history of the university.
Kaitlin Blackstone Announced as Society for Clinical Neuropsychology Blue Ribbon Award Winner
Kaitlin Blackstone’s Division 40 abstract submission for this year’s Society for Clinical Neuropsychology conference taking place June 25-28, 2014 was the top rated student author submission for scientific merit and impact. Her research investigated the NIH Toolbox Cognition Battery (NIH-TB-CB) as a possible brief neurocognitive screening instrument for use in a clinical setting to identify HIV+ individuals with evidence of some level of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND).
David Moore Featured in UC Social Media Campaign Video "PrEParing for HIV"
UC researchers, including Dr. David Moore of the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program, are conducting a 4-year study on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). PrEP is a prevention strategy for people at high risk for contracting HIV.
HNRP Investigators Participated in the 2014 Chennai ART Symposium
Drs. Ajay Bharti, Igor Grant, Scott Letendre and Davey Smith presented at the Chennai Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) Symposium that took place April 26-27, 2014 at the Hotel Leela Palace, Chennai, India. The symposium was hosted by Y.R. Gaitonde Centre for AIDS Research and Education, a non-profit medical and research institution in Chennai which provides medical care for more than 19,000 persons with HIV disease.
